I began my morning saying to the Lord as I opened my Bible, “I love Your word, Lord.”
He whispered, not audibly, but to my spirit, “But do you love to do My word?” I pondered this as I looked at the
reading I had turned to, in Psalm 96:
“Oh sing unto the Lord a new song; Sing unto the Lord, all the earth.”
So, I began to sing to Him a new song until tears came to my eyes with the strong sense
of His Presence.
Oh, Father, I want to do what You ask in Your Word. Why do I not do it?
“The strong voice of the flesh,” He said, not audibly, but to my spirit.
Then I remembered how so often I try in my own strength to accomplish what God has
prompted me to do. Success lies in accessing His strength by the Holy Spirit — and
not relying on my own strength.
But, the strong voice of the flesh is so loud, it often drowns out that still, small
voice of direction from the precious Holy Spirit.
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh,
But those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8:5
May I always set my mind upon You, Oh Lord, that I may access the power of Your Holy
Spirit to accomplish all you call me to do.
