Are you finding it difficult to recognize friends since we are all covered up with masks?
Not seeing a smile along with the entire face makes it harder to connect with anyone.
Meeting new people and thinking you will recognize them next time? Forget about it. It’s tough these days.
Trip to the Store
An option trader I subscribe with, Jeff Clark, tells how he always used to look forward to a trip to the supermarket.
He works on the internet, which keeps him pretty isolated.
At the store, he would see regulars and smile. They would smile back.
Even people he had never seen before would interact, if only briefly. He enjoyed the process.
Now, the masks have put a barrier between him and once pleasurable encounters.
Eyes Speak
During this pandemic, eye contact and our voices are about the only ways we can communicate.
Our eyes hold the power to reach out and touch people.
We have to be willing to engage in this way.
Look into people’s eyes. Are there crinkles around them? That usually goes with a smile.
Is there a frown? Maybe this person is under pressure or upset about something.
Since I have begun to look more intently at the eyes, I have noticed that you can tell quite a bit about a person. You can see warmth or coldness, caring or disinterest, engagement or detachment.
Jesus said
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If, therefore, your eye is perfect, your whole body will be full of light.” Matthew 6:22
Who we are in our hearts comes out through our eyes.
Become attentive to the power of your eyes.
Focus on the eyes above the masks. What do you see? Fear, trouble?
Shine your light. Let the Master’s love shine from your eyes.
